Looking back on my forty years as a piano teacher, I would have to say that one of the biggest roadblocks to a student’s enjoyment at the keyboard was the inability to decipher or decode the little black dots on the page known as musical notation.

If you are just starting out and have dreams of playing the classics someday, (or any kind of written music for that matter), then it is essential to develop the ability to read music fluently. This includes the ability to immediately recognize specific scales, key signatures, intervals, triads (and their inversions) within a given piece of music. Ultimately, this will save you countless hours of frustration and wasted time.

With that thought in mind, I made a concerted effort during the Pandemic, to create the YouTube website, Piano Power Lessons, offering free Music Theory and Piano Lessons.

Please have a look! And if interested, make sure to subscribe to the site in order to be notified whenever new lessons are posted…
